Annual Blessing of the Animals

God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

On the last Sunday of August every year, Church of the Three Crosses holds a special service outside to honor all of the wonderful and good animals. Attendees are encouraged to bring their pets to receive a blessing and previously departed pets are honored. The Ella Jenkins Park amphitheater provides an incredible venue for the blessing of the animals, with ample room for dogs to not feel too crowded. It doesn’t matter if you regularly attend Church of the Three Crosses or you’re just stopping by, all are welcome!

All pets are allowed! This includes turtles, snakes, birds - you name it! We can’t wait to meet your scaly, furry, or feathered family members!

We celebrated the 2026 Blessing of the Animals on Aug 30. What began as a wet and stormy morning gave way to a gorgeous day of sun and sky. We had ten dogs and one cat in attendance, as well as a squirrel who also decided to attend.
