Worship

Weekly Service

Our services are designed to be meaningful and relevant, connecting faith with everyday life and sending us into the week renewed as followers of Jesus. Dress in whatever feels comfortable to you.

At 11:00am each Sunday morning
(except for the 2nd weekend in June, for Old Town Art Fair, Worship is at 9:00am).

Communion is celebrated the first Sunday of each month.
A sanctuary projection system provides opportunities to supplement worship with relevant and enriching images.

Worship is rooted in a familiar liturgy, but the experience is relaxed, warm, and intimate. Whether you are visiting for the first time or returning each week, you’ll find a friendly, unpretentious community that is genuinely glad you are here.

Prayer of Jesus

Each Sunday, our congregation prays an updated version of the Lord’s Prayer. In 2014, during a regular service, we revised the traditional Lord’s prayer to use more inclusive language that we feel is representative of our community. Please see our Lord’s Prayer below:

“Our creator, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Your kindom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day the bread we need. Give it to those who have none. Let forgiveness flow like a river between us, from each one to each one. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kindom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.”

Music

Music is an important part of our worship, helping create a meaningful experience each Sunday. Our style is approachable and participatory, inviting the congregation to sing listen, reflect, and connect more deeply with God and one another. Whether the music feels familiar or new, it is chosen to support worship in a way that is warm, thoughtful, and rooted in the life of the community. We value music that enriches our gathering and speaks to both heart and spirit.

We sing hymns from The New Century Hymnal, The Faith We Sing, and The United Methodist Hymnal. Clinton the church’s hired pianist, accompanies the congregation.

Christmas Service

Church of the Three Crosses celebrates Jesus’ birth with a 5:30 PM Christmas Eve Service. Together, we review the traditional scripture and sing carols structured into eight lessons and conclude with singing “Silent Night” by candlelight. The service also features a pianist, flautist, violinist, and cellist to accompany us.

Fifth Sunday Hymn Sing

On any given month, if there is a fifth Sunday, that Sunday is a dedicated Hymn Sing service that does not feature a sermon, but instead brings us together to sing our favorite church hymns as selected by attending members during the service.

“Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.”

Luke 2:10
